Morrie's Changes

Throughout the novel Morrie goes through a lot of change. Discuss these changes, and state whether they are physical or mental. How do the changes that Morrie undergoes effect his relationships with the other characters? Do the changes that Morrie experiences effect the story?

Morrie is teaching the other characters what it is like to be in this situation. He is teaching them how to die basically. These changes do have affects in the story, because the story is how Morrie, Mitch's teacher, is dying and is still teaching others about it.

Mitch starts up so wrapped up in his life that he doesn't really notice life passing him by. After his uncle dies, he starts to try living life better. He does more but not what he wants. After he sees Morrie again he notices life more. He becomes less self-conscious and is more acceptant.

I have to say that Morrie goes through a lot of changes. At the beginning of the book, he was strong and mobile. Now, he has progressively got worse. First, his legs stopped working, and he had to use a wheelchair. Then, the disease got worse, slowly taking the rest of his body until he was confined to a chair, not able to move or live on his own.

As Morrie's disease increases he has a harder time doing physical activity. Mentally, he develops a stronger relationship with family and friends. His disease made him think of how he views life and how he should view life. After he is diagnosed he feels bad for people in different countries when he didn't feel bad before he had his disease.

Morrie went through a lot of changes in his life. Not only was he a very good teacher and still always loves to learn more, he had it pretty hard once he was diagnosed. It's not like he wanted to stop doing all the things that he loved to do, he had to because he was losing the skill of some of those abilities. When his mom passed away when he was 8, it took a tole on him because he was the one who had to break the news to his dad. Plus since that moment, his life was just different.

The biggest change that morrie goes through is obviously when he is diagnosed with ALS. At first he has a hard time accepting the disease. But he does accept it and decides he is going to use his experience as a teaching aid. Morrie's disease greatly effects Mitch in a positive way.

Morrie went through a huge physical change because he has ALS. Morrie thinks of his death as a learning experience and that it would help people. We havent gotten to the end of the story!

Morrie not only changed in a physical way. He grew emotionally. What he could not do in motions, or body wise, he made up with the encouraging things he said, and the way that he treated and loved others.

The story's plot is driven by the changes experienced by Morrie. His loss of leg movement took us to when he was in a wheelchair, and when he can no longer move his body he is in his chair most of the time. The changes shape the storry as we can see the decline of a great thinker's body.

Morrie goes through many changes in this book. The first changes that morrie goes through i think are mainly physical. but then i think that because of all the physical changes he goes through lead to mental changes.

Morrie learns to not spend everything in the on material items. Morrie teaches about life and how important to have people in it.

Morrie goes through many mental changes such as how life is and what life is really about because he knows he is going to die so he really doesnt care about life. To do with physical changes he is losing his muscular strength.

I think that Morrie realizes what's happening to him and that he decides to finish his life off well. Morrie has know that teaching is what he is meant to do so therefore he diecides it's a good idea to share his experiences. Everybody is learning along with Morrie about his disease and how is changes his body.

Morrie hated the fact that he was losing control over his body because of als, but as much as he didnt like it he still managed to stay cheerful he realizes that instead of being like most people and sulking all day, he pitys himself in the morning for a few minutes, and gets over it. Since he has gotten als he has started to talk to more and more people, sharing with them how to enjoy life, and how to deal with death, he talks about how the media tells us that certain thing are bad or good, but he tells everybody that most of the things they talk about being bad are really nothing to be ashamed of.

Morrie does go through a lot of change throughout the story. They are both physical and mental changes. He grows old and weak and he changes his perspective on life and others around him. he looks at mitch differently. He looks at him as a more caring person than he was in college. These changes do affect the story.

in reality, Morrie doesnt change meentally, just physically. which is really cool because \during a sickness like that most people would give up and feel sorry for themselves

I agree with alyssa that morrie is teaching others and it's helping him with his disease

While Morrie is slowly dying he is teaching people how to be prepared. Although he has always given lots of advice and has helped people out his whole life, now that he is dying he his giving them a different kind of advice. More people are coming to him wondering what they should prepare themselves with before they take the same journey he is on.
